The Costa del Azahar
The Costa del Azahar literally means "the orange blossom
coast". In simple terms, the region is lies approximately
140km south of Barcelona. The whole coastline is revered for
its natural beauty and stretches from the delta lands of the
mighty Ebro River in the north to the architecturally rich and
historic city of Valencia in the south.
Besides for being famed for its extensive citrus crops, the
Costa del Azahar boasts breathtaking scenery. Inland, there
are countless historical villages lost in time hidden in the
valleys and mountain tops.
The Sierra Maestrazgo, a vast inland region boasts two of the
regions most authentic towns Morella and Alcaniz, both of whom
are blessed with history.
Nature lovers will be in awe of the birds of prey that glide
on the air currents amongst the valleys. The odd mountain stream
trickling between the dusty dry ravines, combined with the orange
and almond harvests make the whole inland region a delight to
visit.
